Driving from Dublin to Killarney

If we are driving from Dublin to Killarney is it doable to stop in Kilkenny take a city tour, have lunch and still make it to Rock of Cashel before it closes and then on to Killarney?

Practically anything is "doable" but not necessarily pleasant. Our trips are always "jam packed" with driving and stops for sightseeing, hiking, etc. and I wouldn't do it, unless it's an absolute trip breaker to add an intermediate stop.

Depending on when you're traveling, Kilkenny can be crowded. Getting a morning tour and eating lunch could take longer than you think. Parking at the Rock can be difficult, and then you've got a long afternoon drive to Killarney. You'll drive near many spots just as interesting as the Rock of Cashel.

By my standards, Kilkenny and Killarney are not good examples of Ireland and were pretty low on my bucket list. I've been to both, and even plan to return to Kilkenny next year, but it's our fifth 3 week trip.

Dublin to Kilkenny is going to take about 2 hours to drive (allowimg time to park up.) What time is the city tour and how long dowes it take? How long do you plan for lunch? If that is all you are planning on, then you will get to Rock of cashel

Kilkenny to Rock of Cashel is going to be 90+ minutes. If you are wanting to do a tour, the last one is 15.45. Until October the last time for admission is 16.45. The website recommends allowing 1-1.5 hours for a visit and we needed all of that.

Killarney is probably another 2.5 hours drive from Cashel.

Yes it is doable but could be a long day!
