After 2 days in Dublin we will be picking up a rental car at Dublin Airport and driving to Portrush. I have looked at driving directions and wonder if anyone has an opinion about the best route to take given it will be the first day of driving in Ireland. Both routes start by going north on the M1, but then one route veers to the east and heads toward Belfast on the A1, so we would go through Belfast. The other route takes the M1 to A29 and is essentially a straight trip north. The route through Belfast has a shorter time. Any suggestions on which route to take? Or something completely different? Thanks.
