Driving from Donegal (Doochary) to Clifden

Our last leg of the Ireland trip will be in Clifden.

I've been looking at distances, but probably need to figure in delays and stops to use a toilet along the way.

Would stopping in Sligo be a good move for about 1-2 hours?

And maybe one more stop before going to Clifden? Where would you suggest? I think my apt booking has me at a 4 pm checkin.

Sligo would be as good a place as any for an enroute stop.
If you and your group have an interest in Irish history, and particularly the history of the famine years, you might consider a short detour along your route to visit the Doolough Memorial near Delphi. We thought it one of the most evocative places we visited in Ireland - puts the history of the famine years into rather harsh relief like nothing else can. Can google the Doolough Tragedy to see if it's something that might be of interest. Know however, that there are no facilities there - the memorial sits in the middle of the isolated valley where the event took place.

Robert, thank you for mentioning this. We are all quite interested in the history as well.

I've made a note of this.
