Driving from Dingle to Galway and we have all day.....what stops to make?

Looking for beautiful places to visit on our drive from Dingle to Galway. We have 2 other days in Galway to do day trip to Dunguaire Castle and the Cliffs of Moher.

Looking for cute places to stop on our drive. Also, what other places are close to Galway and worth a look?

Thank you for any and all help.

The Burren has a stark beauty - rough terrain and hardy plant life, plus some stone-age sights. There’s a visitors center, and we took a guided tour with Tony Kirby.

A bit north and east of The Burren, Lisdoonvarna is a neat town in a more classically beautiful setting. There’s a smokehouse there with outstanding salmon, and the town also has a big annual Matchmaking Festival in September..

Northwest of Galway is Clifden - worth a visit there and its surrounds.

Not sure what time of the year you will be there, but I really enjoyed walking in the Burren area across the flat rocks peering down the cracks and crevices to see what was growing. Kylemore Abbey was also a nice stop and the Connemara scenery was beautiful.

If the weather cooperates, and you have the time and the interest, I'd suggest a leisurely scenic drive up the coast via Conor Pass and the Tarbert Ferry. Once across the Shannon turn left and proceed along the N67 thru Kilrush and Kilkee up towards Lahinch and Doolin. There are pretty seascapes all along the way and each of the little villages is a potential stop for coffee, lunch, or just a meander. There's a nice cliff walk near the beach at Kilkee - not exactly the Cliffs of Moher but you will have it all to yourselves. Nice place for a picnic too.
There are afternoon/evening boat trips from Doolin to view Moher from the water with the sun illuminating the cliffs from the west. Many here rave about that experience.
If you really want to get off the beaten tourist path, turn left at Kilkee and head out along Loop Head drive along the peninsula to the lighthouse - would be a very pretty diversion on a sunny day. Some nice walks out that way too if you're into that.
Get an early start out of Dingle and make a leisurely day of it with lots of stops along the way. It's one of the prettiest coastal drives in Ireland and is well worth the time and effort.

Great idea everyone.....Robert, I'm printing out the instructions for the drive you recommended right now. It will be around November 2nd or 3rd..... Can't wait.

I wonder if they do those Doolin boat rides that late in the season.......Would love that.

Thanks everyone.
