We’re planning a 7 day car trip stating and returning to Dublin in mid Oct. currently 2 nights Dublin, 2 nights Galway (see cliffs of Mohr, Inishmore if time) 2 nights dingle. Last day drive from dingle to Dublin airport to do catch flight on day 8 . We Planned to do Slea head loop while on way to dingle. Would folks have different itinerary recommendations given our time (skip Galway? or go a different direction Dublin to west cork , dingle , galway and and galway to Dublin airport. Also wondering the world heritage site New Grange ? Appreciate any thoughts
FYI: The Slea head drive is past Dingle town. You have a lot of driving in 7 days. Driving in Ireland even on the M roads (biggest highways) is not like the usa. in addition to driving on the left, there are roundabouts that will slow you down quite frequently. I did not do the drive to Galway, but I found the drive from Dublin to the Southwest not all that scenic as you are on the freeway. If i redid my trip ( a few weeks ago) i would try to fly to kerry or take the train to Galway, and save my driving for West ireland on the smaller, more scenic roads.
in the Dingle area, highly recommend :

A tour from Dingle that takes you around the peninsula for 3 hours with Michael Collins, an archeologist. It was an amazing 3 hour tour- he took us partially around the Slea Head area- which i was happy not to drive myself, as it is a lot of dropoffs and tiny narrow roads. Not for the faint of heart.
Dingle is fantastic!
