Hello all!
We are going to Ireland July 20-29. When I was booking one of the last days of our itinerary (driving Dingle to Galway via the Cliffs of Moher) I discovered that our Galway night was actually the first day of the horse races. So instead, I booked Doolin thinking we'd choose for the next day either Inisheer or the Westport/Connemara/Mayo loop. Since then, we have decided we definitely want to go up near Westport instead of the Aran Islands.
My question is, should we:
1) Keep our reservation in Doolin, driving only 3ish hours and hanging out longer at the Cliffs on the drive day
2) Try to stay in Galway despite the races (I can't tell how bad they are!) then use it as a base for Connemara
3) Push on the 5 or so hours driving all the way to stay in Westport that night
4) Splurge for a night in a castle somewhere in Connemara, then do the loop from there
Any suggestions would be helpful! I'm aware that at this point it's very late and we may have trouble changing any reservations. :)
