We'll be staying in Doolin in April and were planning to take the ferry to Inis Oirr. However, my husband wants to go to Inish Morr instead. The ferry ride says its 1 hr 20 min. Is the water in April really rough? I get some what seasick so am nervous about going so far. (We have to take the ferry out of Doolin. Going from Rossaveal isn't an option.)
I'll hazard a guess that rough water can occur on any given day, depending on overall weather conditions. Do you find dramamine helpful? Read up on how to prevent/minimize seasickness and see what will work for you, knowing that each person's bodily responses are somewhat unique.
One thing you can be pretty sure of, it will be colder out on the water than on land, so have warm layers of clothing available.
Doolin Ferry company run by the O'Brien family has a fast ferry ..... basically double the speed and much smoother. I would contact them for times etc. We took it on a day that they almost cancelled and it was like being on Deadliest Catch with waves towering next to us and it was intense but not that bad. I would keep the dramamine handy though !!!!
