Each of us is different. Your itinerary wouldn’t work for me, but it could be perfect for you. Here are some things you might want to consider: 1. Where are you flying from and what time is your plane scheduled to arrive? If you’re arriving from elsewhere in the EU and won’t have been on a long overseas flight or trying to stave off jet lag and adjust to a big time difference you’ll be able to do more. This May we flew on a red eye to Dublin. We were scheduled to arrive at 7:00 but minor delays had us touching down at 8:30. Traffic into the city was heavy so by the time we were able to drop our luggage at the hotel it was late morning. None of that mattered too much because we had scheduled 5 full days for Dublin. We took a long leisurely walk (and got lost several times, as is usually the case for us the first day we’re in a new city). I had booked tickets for the EPIC and Jeanie Johnston for mid and late afternoon. Deliberately choosing the less poplar less “must see” sights for day one, knowing we’d be a little tired. We had a fantastic afternoon. However we could barely keep our eyes open at dinner and were in bed by 9:00. We had the advantage of the time of year where there is sunlight until 10 pm. I believe you are traveling in late fall and sunset will be earlier than 6:00 pm. So on top of potential jet lag and potential delays in actually getting into Dublin, you’ll have much less time to actually get to see/experience Dublin. Do you want to spend time exploring Dublin? If so, your plan doesn’t give you enough time to do so.2. Travel time takes a substantial bite out of your day, which is even more problematic when there are fewer hours of daylight. For example, if you’re booked on a 9:30 train you’ll probably need to leave the hotel by 8:30 at the latest to get to the station, locate and board your train. Sometimes trains are delayed. At the end of your trip you’ll need to navigate through the station and then get to your rental car pick up location. Allow another hour for that. Half of your daylight hours have been eaten up by transportation. Every time you move from place to place you’re giving up time. On our most recent trip we spent 4 nights in several locations just so that we could enjoy full days at each location. 3. Why Dingle? Yes, Rick loves it. But like many of his favorite out of the way places, he’s made it so popular it’s lost a lot of its charm. If you had 2 weeks, I’d definitely recommend you see Dingle. But with only 5 days total I personally don’t think it’s worth it. If it were me I’d spend 5 nights in Dublin and maybe take 2 day trips. 4. Have you done a lot of European travel prior to this? If so and this is a typical pace for you, go for it. If not, yes, I’d strongly encourage you to rethink and spend less time getting from place to place and much more time enjoying just one place and the surrounding area.

Too much for what? It depends on how much of your vacation you want to spend in a car; packing; unpacking and moving to the next place.. Is there a particular reason you want to visit Killarney and Dingle instead of exploring the areas closer to Dublin and doing day trips from there?

I’ve heard dingle is beautiful and I don’t really want to stay in Dublin the whole time. If I’m going to do day trips I might as well stay in Galway. Train over from Dublin
We arrive from the USA on the 27th of October. Flight out is on the 1st so we would be coming back from wherever we go on the 31st
We’ve been to Europe before. Went to italy

If you want to go to Dingle.why not??? It is beautiful and you are wise to acclimate yourself to the time change and to be in Dublin the day before you leave. We have stayed in Dingle five or more times and obviously we enjoy it. Some.people.will.say it is too.much but I say go for it.
