Someone recently told us that there are some 500+ steps necessary to reach the distillery? I can't find that anywhere. Could someone please verify. Thank you.

It's on level ground. You will have to walk up one short open bunch of steps to see the vats and then another short open bunch to get to the tasting area. Maybe 10-12 steps on each one.

Nothing especially strenuous about the visit. A few steps as described above. I wonder if the 500 steps reference you saw was the distance from Milltown House, a wonderful B&B co-owned by RS tour guide Stephen McPhilemy located close by.
Definitely worth a visit when in Dingle.
