Dingle visit and then transportation to Shannon.

I am heading to Ireland in late September and have everything booked except our time in Dingle. I have been before but the B&B was across the bridge. I need a more centrally located B&B since I don't have a car and would love a recommendation. We are then leaving from the Shannon airport and I am wondering if we should travel there a day early?

Can't help you with the Dingle part, but I think it would be wise to go to Shannon a day early. It is unlikely that you could take a bus that gets there early enough to get you to the airport two hours before your flight, since most flights leave in the late morning. There are several B&Bs on the Bunratty Road, just behind Bunratty Castle (six miles from the airport) and it would be easy to get a taxi from there to the airport. You could use some of your extra time in the area to see the castle and folk park.

I was actually thinking that would be wise. We are flying to Heathrow that day but airports can be such a hassle. Thank you.

I have stayed at the Tower View B&B in Dingle on two separate visits. Great place! Built in recent years, great owners (Mary and Robbie Griffin), quiet. It's not right in the heart of Dingle town, but rather about a 15-minute walk from there. Because Tower View is not right in the heart of Dingle, it's very quiet and you have a wonderful view of Dingle Bay as you stand in front of the B&B.

I highly recommend that you get to the Shannon area the day before your flight, especially if your flight is in the morning. Last September, we stayed at the Bunratty Haven B&B in Bunratty, which is maybe (at most) a ten-minute drive to the airport. Nice B&B, situated by itself in a very peaceful and quiet place, and only a few minutes' drive from Bunratty town, where you can spend some time walking around and getting a bite to eat.

I am staying at the Pax House the last week of August and it is very central. A little walk but very easy. I also am traveling without a car and the bus from Dingle to the Shannon airport is close to 5 hours. I am going from Dingle to Ennis for 2 nights and then staying at the Shannon airport hotel which I have done before. Since I am so close in Ennis, I can spend most the day there and eat and then bus to the airport for my flight out the next day. But nothing other than the airport is around the Shannon airport area without a car.

So I like the suggestion for staying where the castle and restaurants are as well.

Enjoy your return journey to Dingle.
