Is it possible to go from Dingle to Galway with stops at Bunratty Castle, The Burren, and The Cliffs of Moher in one day?
You plan on staying in Galway that night, right? Not going back to Dingle? Because Dingle to Galway back to Dingle in a day is not feasible.
The other trip is doable, but a very long day. We went from Dingle to Galway (and stayed in Galway that night). We left around 8:30 or 9:00 a.m., stopped at the Cliffs of Moher, drove through the Burren with a few stops, we did not stop at Bunratty Castle, and arrived in Galway around 5:00 p.m.
Thanks for your reply - yes we are staying in Galway and hope to go to the Aran Islands the next day
Per Steve, as long as it's a one-way trip then it's easily doable in a day.
Might check the schedule for the Tarbert ferry - if you time it right it could save you some time, plus the ferry is just a charming and relaxing way to cross the Shannon.
thanks Robert - the ferry sounds interesting but does it save time?
I was wondering the exact same thing - when is your trip? If it's before October I would be interested to know if you fit it all in:)
Maureen
It'll save some time if you time it right. For us the real advantage was that it was much more pleasant than having to go via Limerick...it's a much more scenic drive (IMO), plus you'll get to read some of the colorful and creative anti-Cromwellian graffiti as you pull into the pier on the other side - the Irish really do know how to hold a grudge...
I will be attempting this in about 2 weeks :) I was also hoping for a quick stop in Adare
Thanks so much for everyone's take - I will be there the first week in September and will let you know how it was.
sharon - maybe you can let us know how you make out - have a great trip!
I will come back and post when we are back or maybe even while we are still there.... wifi depending and all :)
Ok.. we did this yesterday. Left Dingle around 8:45. Went through Conor Pass, stopped at bunratty castle for 3 hours, the Cliffs of Moher for 2 hours and pulled in to our Galway hotel at 7:15.
Very doable :)
Thanks for the info, Sharon. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
