Dingle to Cahersiveen

My daughter and I will be in Dingle and wish to go to Cahersiveen for dinner and back to Dingle. What is the best way to get there and back. I have looked at renting a car but have not seen any options on line. We would be open to hiring a driver as well. Or take an Uber if that was available.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you looked at a map? That is a long way to go for dinner - it is about 60 miles to get there and is going to take 90-120 minutes to drive - which is not only a long way in Ireland is also goiung to work out expensive to hire a driver (as you are going to need one for 5-6 hours...)

Thank you for your reply!

We know it is a long drive and perhaps not a realistic option.
The reason we wish to go to Cahersiveen is to meet friends that live there and have a meal.. Also it would be a wonderful opportunity to drive part of the Ring of Kerry.

Is there a way to rent a car?

It might be easier to invite your friends to drive to Dingle and have your reunion dinner there.
There's really no easy way to rent a car once you're in Dingle. There are rental car outlets at the Kerry Airport near Farranfore but you'd still need to get there and back from Dingle ... unless you were flying into or out of Kerry anyway that is.

There used to be ferries that connected Dingle and Cahersiveen (or nearby Valentia Island), but I’m not certain if any are running regularly, or if there’s a Dingle boat captain that can be hired for a private charter. The price and timing would need to be considered, but perhaps you could reach your friends by water. That would require some further research and maybe some e-mails or phone calls to determine whether that’s an option.

The ferry service hasn't run for many many years, although Radio Kerry did report earlier this year the council "will examine the feasibility of running a ferry service between Cahersiveen and Dingle'...
