Dingle Peninsula Tour

Hello again!!

I appreciate all responses in my previous post, after more research, I found some answers but could use some suggestions.

My goal is to take trains out of Dublin to minimize driving as I’ve never driven on the left side and am also 22($$$$). Heart is set on seeing dingle peninsula. Wanted to take a train to Killarney however they’re more rental option to take nearest train near Kerry Airport. I’m still having difficulty finding rentals via the airport with my age.

I really want to stay in Dingle. So I’m looking for tours of dingle peninsula starting from the town itself. However, it seems there are more options starting in Killarney... group tours will probably be best, as it’s more cost effective.

I’m asking for recommendations of tours starting from dingle to the slea head drive, dingle bay etc
Or tours starting from Killarney as well.

Is it worth staying in dingle or should we just stay in Killarney for overall convenience? Thought It would be fun to explore dingle in the evenings, hence why I wanted to stay there.

Will be coming into Kerry/dingle Wednesday around 5 via train from Dublin. Will leave mid day Saturday for Cork via train. So I have 3 nights total with 2 full days of exploring. Is one full day enough time to explore dingle? Should we spend day 2 exploring Killarney national park?

Thanks all!

Paul Brown gets excellent reviews/comments on this Forum (ROK, Dingle, etc.)

His website: http://www.kenmaretaxitours.com/home.html

We had to cancel our reservation with him in 2018 due to a health issue, so we have no first-hand experience. Putting his name in the Search box above should yield more current and helpful info.

I’m presuming you chose to fly into Dublin rather than Shannon.

Public transport in Eire is okay, just okay.

As you’ve opted to train from Dublin o Killarney be sure you don’t take the last train as it has a 7 hour lay over in Mallow.

As far as tours of Slea Head and getting to Dingle from Killarney Paddy Wagon Tours are well known.
I’ve never taken them but check out Trip Advisor reviews.

Have driven around Eire and Northern Ireland twice but far older than you.

Great country. Enjoy your time there but don’t rush. You’ll be back.

Abigail,

We are also interested in day tours of Dingle Peninsula. I am assuming you have a dates for Dingle visit already. Would you be interested in possibly sharing a smaller tour option if we match dates? We are far from 22, but an active couple who would love to see and learn about the Dingle area without driving and would prefer not to take a large bus.

I would recommend Paul Brown for any tour that fits your schedule/price limits. We did a Ring of Kerry with him and he was great, we did a full day tour that started in Kenmare at our B&B where he picked us up. I think Paul does Dingle/Slea head tours as well but seems he would have to travel a bit to get to Dingle from his location in Kenmare but I guess he is willing to do it. He did suggest a guy from the Dingle area that does tours but I don't recall the name of the guy so you might send Paul an email and see who he would recommend for Slea Head. We used Denis Ryan for a tour of Slea Head/Dingle and he was good. It was just my wife and I and Denis in his car, we did a half day tour. I enjoyed Denis and he took us to some spots we would not have located on our own IMO. Here is a link for him, his web site doesn't have much info. http://dingletours.com/ Here is Paul's too http://www.kenmaretaxitours.com/home.html use him if you can!!
