Dingle or kinsale? With limited time, which would give most Irish flavor?

Leaving Galway and not wanting to see all of ring of Kerry, what would be best to see re: some Irish terrain, small town atmospher, mixing with the locals. We will not be driving, but we can hire a driver, bus or train. Thank you

We loved Dingle. Met some great Irish people in the pub and left 3 hours later with an invitation to stay with them in Dublin.

The terrain is gorgeous, the music scene is great, great small town to walk around.

They are both as Irish as it gets. For me Dingle town was not the highlight, the Slea Head Loop was the highlight, not the town so much. The town was fine, but town vs. town I think they are pretty close to the same. The difference in cost might be extreme though if you are looking at a private driver. Kinsale might be much easier to reach economically. Ennis in County Clare is quite nice too, great Irish music and a very authentic small town. Very convenient bus connection to Galway.

I loved both towns, but to me Kinsale had almost the feel of a New England fishing village, whereas Dingle felt utterly Irish. Dingle also has a stronger traditional music scene, if that matters to you.

Dingle all the way, especially if you live in San Fran! (because Kinsale is cute but...) But please stay, at least, 2 nights in Dingle because it's not worth it otherwise. Hire a driver to take you around the Pennisula. I took 2-3 busses from Galway, if I recall to downtown Dingle. My BB people picked me from there. Enjoy!
