Dingle b&b for a family? And accommodation discounts for families in general?

Hello. I've seen a few discussions about b&bs in Dingle, but nothing terribly recent. Any family travellers with a recommendation for the area? We will be travelling with our teen son and daughter. With four of us, our budget is tight, so I'm looking for warm and homey, not luxurious.

I'm also wondering if family parties can expect a discount, in general not just in Dingle? At 14 and 16, the kids often get charged youth or adult prices elsewhere.

Thanks for your help.

We stayed at Garvey's Farmhouse in Ventry just outside Dingle and loved it. We had a family room which had a double or queen bed and two twins. Perfect for our family of 4.

Discount wise, there are quite a few attractions that offered family prices which usually meant 2 adults and 2 kids. Some were for kids 14 and under and some were for 16 and under, you will have to keep an eye out. I don't find that you get a discount on accommodations through as in general, they just look at the number of people in the room not so much the age of the occupants

3 years ago we stayed 3 nights at the Greenmount House B&B in Dingle. The place is quite new and modern compared to the typical B&Bs we stayed at. Instead of small rooms with tiny bathrooms, we had what must be by Irish standards a truly enormous room with a very spacious bathroom. Given a proper entrance, we could have easily parked a minivan in the room. I believe it was one of their "traditional rooms" on the back side because of the picture of the bathroom posted on their website. I remember the bathroom clearly because of the shower - it was as big at 3 typical Irish shower stalls. The place doesn't have the antique, classic quaint & cramped feeling of many B&Bs, but it sure is comfortable. I recall the food as very good with nice variety from day to day. Have a grand time on your trip.

Thank you both. Sharon, we were considering a farm stay some time during our trip, and hadn't found many alternatives, so maybe this is the one. Here's a delicate question: does it smell "farmy"? Of course if one is visiting the animal pens and barns, that's to be expected, but I'd rather not have the smell of manure in my nose for our whole stay.

And you're right, the attractions seem to give us good family discounts. After pricing attractions in England (the first half of our trip), Ireland is a delight that way.

I've seen a lot of positive reviews of the Greenmount, but it appears to be booked up for our dates.

We're looking at the first Thursday-Friday in July, and have already found some difficulty booking the Friday. I'm beginning to wonder if Dingle is overrun? But we don't want to miss the peninsula--Gallarus, the beehive huts, Kilmakedaer...maybe there's somewhere else on the peninsula that would be a good base? We stayed in Tralee on our first visit, and would probably not return. (We recuperated there from an extended bout of airline-induced food poisoning, which has forever coloured what may well be a lovely town!)

Pax Guest House is excellent for families. John, the proprietor, has several room sizes for families, and some of them have a sea view, which is gorgeous. The last one we had had a queen bed and two twins, plus a small patio outside overlooking the lawn and sea.
