I’m currently in Ireland on a guided hiking tour (not Rick Steves). One day into the tour, I was diagnosed with Covid and my husband and I had to leave the tour. The Covid result was confirmed with two at-home antigen tests. However, the only acceptable result, according to my travel insurance company, is a PCR test from a medical professional. I, and a representative from my hiking tour company have called countless places to get me in for an official test and NO ONE will allow me in the office. Even if I’d gone in to take a test, unaware of my Covid diagnosis, all they would give me is a negative “certificate to fly,” not any results. Does anyone have any advice? I feel like I’m stuck in this crazy Catch-22!
Is this the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland?
If it's the Republic, maybe these people could help or at least you could call them to get answers for your questions:
Call your travel insurance company they should be able to arrange a proctored test by video. The Dr will call you on FaceTime and watch you take a home test and stay on to see the result.
Getting a proctored test using a home test and video call maybe the way to go. I’ve been carting a Binax Now Proctored test around Europe for over three weeks “just in case “ I end up in a situation like yours. My goal is to carry it back unused…..,
