Delta cancels service to Shannon

Delta suddenly without notification cancelled my trip to Shannon in September.

I was able to rebook flights at a higher price and Delta did refund the full amount of the flights to my Credit Card in July.

I received an email with the refund information for the flights and seat upgrade charges. The flight charge in the amount of $882.40 was posted to my CC on July 18th. The email from Delta said the three other charges for seat upgrades in the amount of $605.99 were posted back to my CC on the same date. I received the CC statement and only one charge for the flights was posted.

I contacted Delta by phone and they said it could take up to two months to be credited back to my CC. I waited....NOTHING! I filed a claim for the upgraded seat charges with Delta and received an email from Delta stating that they refunded the amount to the CC. Around we go again.

Obviously it is lost in the ethernet. It was a Chase Visa and I checked with them and they never received the credit. I am in the process of disputing the charges through Visa.

Can anyone recommend any course of action that I have not taken??

P.S. Delta did offer a $50 travel voucher for my inconvenience. That does even begin to cover the additional charges incurred in booking another flight and loosing the travel insurance.

The were three separate charges for seat upgrades. One on the flight to Shannon and two separate upgrades for the return. The return charges were made at separate times. One to confirm a seat and the second to change the seat to add more legroom.

Did you speak with Delta on the phone again, a second time? A few months ago we did not get miles credited back to our frequent flyer account after canceling a RT flight. We went back and forth with an agent on the phone. We asked for her supervisor who credited our account with DOUBLE the frequent flyer miles. We did not correct her mistake. . .

In this case, I think you'll have the best outcome by disputing the charges with Chase. I've only disputed a charge a couple of times, but it's typically pretty quick and painless.
Generally, not for this in particular, people on FlyerTalk recommend contacting Delta via Twitter (X) for faster response. Otherwise, call them daily until you get resolution. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I agree that disputing the charge with the CC is most likely to get your money back. I have had good luck with this approach, (Citibank Visa). I have also found that the online chat feature yields a quicker response time than waiting on hold for a phone representative. Try to get past the robo-responses as quickly as you can. Print out the transcript so you have facts and a case number should you have to follow up. Good luck.
