will be in Adare for 5 days for a wedding late June. A lot of our time will be occupied with pre and post wedding events but will likely have a morning to mid afternoon free on one of the weekdays. Looking for a recommendation of somewhere to go or something to do/see that is a short distance from Adare (Cliffs of Mohr is one of the family organized events). Any suggestions? Thanks

We should have access to a car. We will have about 5-6 hours total including the travel time to and from so it would need to be relatively close. We are open to exploring , visiting a site or park, shopping, strolling....just interested in doing something outside of Adare for a little bit

There is Limerick for the big town experience and St John's Castle.
Alternatively have a leisurely drive around the coast to Tralee and than back to Ardare via Lostowel. (Both worth exploring.) Have a stop off at Foynes Flying Boat and Maritime Museum or the Lartigue Monorail and Museum in Listowel for something completely different!
A bit further would be to catch the Shannon Ferry from Tarbert across to Killimer and then onto Kilkee, which is a small Victorian seaside town and if time allows continue down to Loop Head with its dramatic cliffs.
