We are trying to decide between two day trips out of Dublin.
One trip goes (in order) Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough, and Kilkenny. The other day trip goes (in order) Kilkenny, Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough, and sheep dog trials.
Time frame for both is basically 8:00-6:00. We probably see will see sheep dog demos later in our Ireland sojourn. Both day trips are highly rated. Is it better to start the day in the Wicklow Mountains (with no dogs) or in Kilkenny (trip with dogs...lol).

Go thru Wicklow mountains to Glendalough first.
Do you know how much time the different tours allow in Glendalough and Kilkenny? If you are seing sheep dog trials elsewhere, then I'd be tempted give it a miss. Hopefully that should make a more relaxed day and possibly allow extra time in Kilkenny and Glendalough...
Here are some more details.
Option 1: Wicklow (1 hour), Glendalough (1 hour), Wicklow Gap (15 minutes), Kilkenny (3 hours)
Option 2: Kilkenny (3 hours), Sheeps (45 minutes), Wicklow Gap (20 minutes), Wicklow (2 hours), Glendalough (2 hours)
As a photographer I would prefer starting at Wicklow for the mid-morning light, but that trip is a wee bit shorter in time.
1 hour in a place doesn't give very long, especially if a tour with quite a few people to get on and off the bus, through toilets etc, as well as waiting for people to get out of the way so you can take a photo... . Also there's a lot more to Glendalough than the visitor centre and the Monastic site with the round tower. These also tend to be busy so it is worth walking further to the lakes and some of the other ruined chapel sites. It is very photogenic.

We're looking for day trips out of Dublin as well. What tour companies are you looking at. We prefer to go with more countryside than the typical tourist areas, but we have to go with a tour as we're not willing to drive there.
