We will be in Dublin in July and are interested in visiting the Wicklow area, including Glendalough and Vale of Avoca, . We do not want to drive so would appreciate any recommendations for a small organized tour or a private car/driver. Thank you.
Dublin Bus run a Glendalough and Powerscourt Gardens tour with a loop of their HOHO tour in Dublin (worth €19), a free walking tour in Dublin (worth €10) and entrance to Powerscourt Gardens (worth €8.50) included in the price. 10% discount if you book online too at http://www.dublinsightseeing.ie/southcoast.aspx
Hope this helps!
Well the one I can suggest you avoid is "Wild Wicklow Tours" as I had a horrible experience with them - we did not even get to go on the tour! I booked the day before and confirmed the booking with credit card details and then later in the day I called a second time just to make sure. On the following morning we were there at the stop and when the bus arrived we were asked to wait a few minutes while others where getting on. When we thought it was about our turn to get on we approached the door only to be told "You're not on my list, have a nice day" and with that he closed the door and drove off leave me and my family of three on the side walk!
Look for us, one of the reps at the Grayline stop further up the street say what happened and came to talk to us. She spent about 15 minutes on the phone to her office and managed to get us on a one of their later tours of wicklow: The Wicklow Mountains and it turned out to be a really great day in the end.
