Day tour Dublin to Cliffs of Moher

Does anyone have advice on the best tour companies that provide day tours to the Cliffs of Moher?
We are staying in Skerries. So, we will have to travel by bus to Dublin and then back to Skerries. When do bus lines stop running? Thank you for any info!

Hi there,

To be honest, I know of only one which receives consistently good reviews, and that's the Wild Rover Tour Company which also includes Galway City, as well as the Cliffs of Moher ( http://wildrovertours.com/ ). Now, that's a long day - the tour leaves the city around 7ish, so much earlier again if you're leaving from Skerries. Important to check would there be a transport link early in the morning. The evening link shouldn't pose a problem - the trains and buses run past 11pm.

Sorry I don't know of any other tour companies, perhaps a later start would be more ideal!

I asked our Ireland guidebook co-author, who replied:

I agree with Sean's answer. Wild Rover tours (www.wildrovertours.com) are a good bet if you want to see the Cliffs of Moher as a day trip from Dublin. But since you are sleeping in Skerries, you'll need to factor in an additional 30 to 40 minutes to get by train from Skerries to Dublin. It’s a deceptively long trip to drive across the island of Ireland to reach the Cliffs of Moher and still get back again that evening. So you have to leave Skerries extremely early. According to the Wild Rover website, their coach departs Dublin between 7:00 and 7:30am (picking up at 4 different spots in the city) and don’t get back until 8:00pm. So the only train that departs Skerries early enough to reach Dublin departs Skerries at 6:26am and arrives in Dublin’s Connolly train station at 6:57; see www.irishrail.ie. Then it’s a 3 or 4 block walk to the nearest tour bus departure point. So you’ll have to hustle and it will be a very long day. My guess is that if you e-mailed Wild Rover and explained which train you are considering, perhaps they could wait 5 or 10 minutes (can’t speak for them though). There are probably competing companies that do this same tour route, but they all have to deal with the distance and similar timing. So go to the following Wild Rover website link and then scroll to the bottom to see all the schedule and contact info: http://aroundirelanddaytoursltd.rezgo.com/details/46198/cliffs-of-moher-burren-coastal-drive-galway-bay-1-day-tour

First off, thank you both so much for sharing! Now I'm thinking, is there a cab company you recommend that I could set up a pick-up for us in Skerries to take us to the departure location in Dublin? I know it is probably expensive, but for me and my husband (first time travelers) it's a once in a life time experience we gotta do. Thank you again! Super excited!
