Hi All - We'll be staying in Adare for four nights and would like to take some day hikes. We'll have a car, so we can go in any direction, but don't want to have to drive long distances. Looking for suggestions for day hikes, off the beaten path if possible. I know that any walk in Ireland will be beautiful, but looking for specifics.

We've always had good luck with http://www.irishtrails.ie/ for day hikes. Helps that they're broken down by county, degree of difficulty, etc.

Would really recommend a good pair of waterproof boots if you plan to go much off the beaten path. Even on relatively dry days you're bound to encounter boggy places on some of the trails. Hiking poles can come in handy too.
