Generally, do eateries/bars take credit cards? Or is cash best? Figure cash for beer and maybe card for an eating/drinking establishment?

We used credit card everywhere—pubs, restaurants, grocery, admissions. “Tap” is widely used for any purchase under (I think) 30 euro. Otherwise chip and signature. In 30 days we only made two ATM withdrawals and that was mainly because one b&b only accepted cash.
