Creative (and packable) host(ess) gifts?

We are staying at 6 different AirBnBs in Ireland, and I would love to give each host(ess) a gift. We live in NC; so I may consider something that is NC/East Coast relevant. Any ideas?

It’s not something I would do for an Airbnb rental - you may not even meet the “ hostess” but just someone they have to hand you the keys ( an employee ) my ex hubby has a few Airbnb’s and he doesn’t meet his guests .
Now perhaps at a bed and breakfast place it would be something to consider .

I would never ever give an AirBnB host a gift. They are not BnBs. Your gift would probably stay in the rental to be used or taken by other renters.

I wouldn't even do that in a regular B&B.

They are not your friends, it's a business transaction.

I think it might depend on the type of Airbnb. If renting a private room or receiving breakfast, perhaps you will see more of the host, but I agree that I don't consider it for my Airbnb lodgings. Others may be more thoughtful than me, I guess. My contribution is being a quiet, tidy guest.
If your lodging includes breakfast, I am sure the salt would be used.

Totally understand your friendly impulse and immediately thought of wonderful Appalachian handcrafted wood serving spoons etc. But it is true that most air bnbs are run as businesses more than avocations. The owners would probably be more grateful for a great review on the Air bnb website.

That being said, if you are staying in a real bed and breakfast in someone’s home, and if the owner has gone “above and beyond” to assist you in advance of your visit, then express your gratitude in whatever way you like ... plus the valuable website review.

Love North Carolina!

Thanks, all. We have stayed in AirBnbs in AZ, VA, NY, NJ, & TN-and I always bring a small token. I do extensive research into the places that we choose to stay; and I appreciate the thoughtful, above and beyond experience that we have received, without exception. FWIW there is a lot of overlap in Ireland: Many accommodations are traditional B & Bs that now list on AirBnb.

I used to do this with small B & B's where I had alot of interaction with the host, but realized they don't expect or really want it. If when visiting we had a really special, personal visit and I noticed they collected say postcards or frig magnets from guests, then I might send one when I got home. This is really more of a business than it used to be and especially in AirBnB I sometimes never meet my host.

For a B n B that is a working farm, I always take some of my brother's seed corn advertising pens. Seriously

Thank you for posting this thought! It had just crossed my mind to do something like that for the B&Bs we will stay in as well.

I definitely agree with Liz above, who reminds us all you have a business transaction with the B&B owners. They are not your relatives or friends of friends, they are in business and as soon as you leave you are forgotten. Sorry if this sounds cold, but giving gifts here and there to small business owners and others, smacks of being Lady Bountiful. I myself would be insulted by the superior/inferior implications.
