Is it necessary to test for Covid returning to the States from the UK? I’ll be traveling and returning in May 2022 from the UK, transferring through Dublin. I’m confused with all the rule changes for each country. Advice appreciated!
It is currently required to test before flying to the US, regardless of where you're flying from.
So yes, as of current rules, you'll need to do a test within a day of your departure. (If you fly on a Wednesday, you can do the test anytime on Tuesday.) The airline will probably require this be done before you can check in for the flight from London.
Thanks, Scudder. I see I must book my test in advance at the Dublin airport, and I will!
Valeecat- if you’re flying from London to Dublin on the same ticket as your flight home you will need to test in London.
Thanks for your concern, Scudder, but I’m ferrying to Dublin from Holyhead, then to Seattle via Keflavik. So I think I’m supposed to test in Dublin, right?
Ah, yes. you'll test in Dublin. Glad we got that cleared up!
Cheers!
And here is what looks like the easiest way to do that, a company doing antigen tests with a one-hour turnaround at DUB. Here is another test center in central Dublin if you want to do it before getting to the airport. There are others too. You need to set up an appointment with any of them, but it doesn't look difficult.
Super-sleuthing, Dick. Many thanks to you for this link. I’ll have plenty of time at T1 to take care of this before pre-boarding.
I learned a different strategy for anyone who lives near Vancouver, Canada. According to a friend who lives in Seattle and just returned from a trip to Germany, he says that Canada does not require the Covid test on inbound flights from Europe. The US does not require Covid tests for land crossing from Canada. So he flew into Vancouver, and then took a train from Vancouver into Seattle.
Just information. Not endorsing any ideas over another.
Good to know, Scott. Of course, things are changing so fast, who knows what will be required next week? Stay well and safe out there!
