covid test return

Has anyone gone through the experience of testing positive the day before you leave then trying to find a place to hang out till you test negative? Our hotel says they will put us up based on room availability at the time and, of course, my concern is if the rooms are all booked I can't see myself walking around with covid trying to rebook somewhere else.

There are several threads on this topic right now. One for a couple testing positive in France, one for a couple testing positive in Greece and another for Italy.

There are two threads dealing with planning for the unexpected stay and one discussing how to get documentation of recovery (the option besides testing negative).

You may want to look at the forum on Covid travel.

Your concerns are important and quite real. You are wise to think through possibilities in advance.

You shouldn’t be “walking around” trying to find a room. Book online through one of the many platforms such as Booking.com or VRBO air hotel websites directly. Alternatively, ask your hotel to help.

I know of more people in the U.K. that have had Covid in the past 2 weeks than at anytime in the past 2 years, so it’s a real risk, unfortunately. All are under 60. Most of those have only been feeling really ill (bed ridden) for 4-5 days or have been asymptomatic. Most have tested positive for between 7 and 12 days.
