Looking for some advice on our trip to Ireland. We’re thinking to stay in Cork City for a night as we drive from Dublin-Kilkenny-Dingle. But I see very little information on this area, other than Kinsale and Cobh. Any advice on why that might be. Since we want to go to Middleton distillery and then Blarney, we thought Cork City seemed logical. Would appreciate feedback and also recommendations on lodging. Thanks in advance
I liked the Metropole Hotel in the center of Cork, where I stayed last April. Very clean, comfortable and quiet with a friendly staff. The breakfast was good with a nice river view.
Unless you are a big fan of Trad music, where Cork excels, you might do better by moving your Cork stop further west, for example, Clonakilty. That would allow a drive on the Beara peninsula or Ring of Kerry on the way to Dingle.
We stayed one night in Cork before flying out of Cork to London. We actually had a fun, touristy day there including the Butter Museum, the English Market, St Finn Barr's Cathedral and an incredible meal at Paradiso. We stayed at Cork International Hotel by the airport since we were flying out early the next morning.
