connecting flight in Dublin and baggage

Hello,

We will be flying to Lisbon from Seattle thru Dublin.

Does anyone know if when returning back to Seattle from Dublin, after the connecting flight from Lisbon, do we need to get our bags before going thru customs? Usually you do...... but there is a video on the Dublin airport website that shows your bags whizzing off on their own, and it is not spelled out.

I wonder if I should book the connecting flight on one ticket in order to make the connection easier. Or if it doesn't matter, there are cheaper options.

thanks for the info from anyone who has been there!

If I were doing this using Aer Lingus, I would book SEA-LIS-SEA on their site, not separate tickets ( i.e. SEA-DUB; DUB-LIS, etc)

Make sure the burden is on them to get your destination
