Is anyone familiar with these tours, or have opinions to recommend for or against this one, as compared to other "Black Cab" style tours to cover Troubles sites and issues?

I most definitely recommend Paddy Campbell Tours http://belfastblackcabtours.co.uk . I most definitely DO NOT recommend Black Taxi Tours Belfast.
Black Taxi Tours left us in the lurch, and Paddy Campbell (http://belfastblackcabtours.co.uk) saved the day. You can read my Belfast Trip report for more details on this.

I find interesting the response from "BB - Calgary". So much in responding to queries such as this depends on one's own one-time experience.
I have only had one relevant experience. It was with Black Cab, in 2017, and it was fascinating. We didn't actually pay for the tour; rather, we were approached by a cabbie at the Belfast train station and he gave us a ride to the Belfast airport where we would be picking up our rental car. He gave us an "unofficial" Black Cab tour (as well as his business card for the "official" tour to pass along to others), taking the back roads to the airport since we were not in a hurry. It was fascinating. Seeing the peace wall was quite moving, and seeing the gates that they lower at night so that "both sides feel safe" was unexpected.
He stopped and pointed out a lot of interesting facts and sights along the way. And when he needed to gas up, he pulled in through the open gates to the North and gassed up there. "What?" he asked. "Petrol is cheaper here".
I would not hesitate to use that company again or to suggest it to others. Of course, I am a data point of one, so there's that.

We took a Black Cab tour twice and it was fantastic both visits. Super easy to work with and highly recommend. Sorry someone else had a bad expedience.

Black Cab Tours (aka Paddy Campbell Tours) is the one I recommend. The one that left us in the lurch in such a strange way, in spite of a confirmed reservation, was Black Taxi Tours (aka Taxi Tours Belfast) at Belfast Tours DOT Com .
