coastal route from Belfast to Portrush possible?

Hello!
Wondering if it's better to take a bus versus a train from Belfast to Portrush. Rick says in his book that there is a bus that takes the scenic coastal route but when I plug in the locations on translink it only shows via Coleraine. Is it possible to drive closer to the coast??

I agree that the Journey Planner isn't finding it. But try this Ulsterbus map for route numbers. Bus 172 runs along the coast between Portrush and Ballycastle. See other transport mentioned on page 410 of Ireland 2017.

Thanks Paul and Laura so much! I feel kind of bad that we are training it from Belfast to Portrush. Maybe we'll hire a driver just to take us back and see the coast!
