We are in our 80's and have about 3 days to travel from Dublin to see Cliffs of Moher, the Burren and Dingle. Is that possible in 3 days? Is it best to take a train to Galway? Are there day tours or do we need to hire a car and driver? (Was told that we're too old to rent a car in Ireland!) I love John O'Donohue's writing so would like to get close to where he grew up and is buried. Any suggestions are welcome.
You might want to chose Galway or Dingle.
I was in Ireland last May and used public transportation and some short group tours.

Dingle is much too far for just three days. From Dublin, you can get a day trip to the Cliffs of Moher, but be warned, it will be a long day. A day trip to Dingle is best done from Killarney. Even if you were to hire a car and driver from Dublin, you would still spend several hours just getting to Dingle without stopping at the cliffs. Then, you wouldn’t have much time to actually see the sights as that alone would require at least one whole day. Two would be better. But, you still have to get back to Dublin, I’m assuming, to fly home? For that very southern part of Ireland, it is better to fly in and out of Shannon.
Without a car?? No, just no.
Thanks for all of your replies. Carrie,I read your whole report from last year with great suggestions and links. I've given up Dingle but now wonder if it is better to do the one day tour from Galway to Cliffs of Moher and the Burren or hire a car and driver since I'd like to walk a little on the Cliffs and the Burren and find John O'Donohue's resting place in Fanore. Does anyone have a suggestion of a car and driver in Galway? How does the price compare to the one day tour for two people? Thanks so much for your help.
