Cliffs of Moher Hop on Hop off bus

The Coastal Shuttle Bus listed in the 2020 Best of Ireland edition seems to not be in business any more. Wondering if there is a replacement service? Visiting in June. We don't plan to do the entire walk, but a Hop on Hop off solution would be fantastic.

I don’t know if these are in your 2020 guidebook, but Rick’s 2022 book lists basically three options for people not providing their own transportation:

Galway Tour Company shuttle service to and from the Cliffs, €25 includes Cliffs admission www.galwaytourcompany.com , and

a boat cruise tour (try for afternoons for the best light) from either Doolin2Aran Ferries www.doolin2aranferries.com or Doolin Ferry/O’Brien Line www.doolinferry.com . These are also €25, according to that book.

Yep. We will be doing a boat tour for sure. We are driving to the area on our own, so not sure we are interested in the full Galway tour. But thanks!

It sounds like you may be interested in the Cliff walk, which I highly recommend, and not just the congested area right around the visitor center where most tours go. There are a number of options. Although the shuttle bus has stopped operating, the regular Bus Eireann Route 350 that runs 5 or 6 times per day between Galway and Ennis stops in Doolin near where you can pick up the cliff walk and at the visitor center parking lot. You could park in Doolin and hike to the visitor center and then catch a bus or taxi back. Or, you could take the 350 bus from Doolin to the visitor center and hike back to Doolin which would be more downhill than hiking to the visitor but neither is a strenuous hike or climb. You could also park at the Hagshead end of the cliff walk and hike to the visitor center and get a taxi back to hags head (or Bus 350 to Liscanoor but I'm not sure how far that is from the Hags head lot). A number of reviews I read consider Hagshead to visistor center the most scenic part of the cliff walk. The Hagshead is about 5km to the visitor center, and visitor center to Doolin is about 8km. When I went a few years ago, the shuttle bus was operating but I also had the 350 bus schedule on hand.
