Cliffs of Moher - Doolin Cliff Walk

Has anyone done the Doolin Cliff Walk with Pat Sweeney? I am trying to get an idea for how difficult it might be. My husband is 75 and though he is in great shape (we go to the gym 3X a week) I don't want to put him in a situation that might be to difficult. I am 64 and have no doubt I will be fine. It is advertised as a fairly easy walk but we have been reading some reviews where people are saying it is difficult. Of course it depends on your generally fitness level as to whether it is easy or difficult. I believe it is 5 miles and takes 3 hours. Does anyone know what kind of an elevation gain we are looking at? Also, I hear there are no railings along the edge which may pose a problem if you are afraid of heights.

Thanks in advance!

This walk was one of the major highlights of our trip a few years ago! It is beautiful and Pat is great! There are a few spots where you are really close to the edge, but I don't think it's really that difficult. As for elevation, I can not remember, but if you and your husband are in good shape, I can't imagine you'd have any difficulties. Take a camera, the views are stunning and he will get great shots of you guys. When we went, we were the only ones on the walk that day, and I am so glad because it felt great being out there with just the 3 of us. When We got to the cliffs and saw what views everyone else had from the visitor centre, I was ecstatic. Our views were magnificent in comparison and it was a much more satisfying experience having done the cliff walk. We actually stayed at Pats B&B as well. :)

Biggie,

Thank you for your reply. It is nice to hear from someone who has done the walk. I often wonder if it is the length of the trip that make people say it is so difficult. One woman on Trip Advisor said she would not recommend it for anyone over 50 and you still needed to be in good shape. If I am remembering correctly I heard that the last hour was the "toughest" and I am not sure what they mean by tough. Also, I did not know that Pat Sweeney had a B&B.
