I am wanting to attend a Christian Church Service while visiting Dublin. I currently attend a contemporary non-denominational church in the states, but I am open to different experiences. Any suggestions? Thank you!
For the "original and best" check out any of the Roman Catholic churches in the city. St Mary's Pro-Cathedral is located on a side street just off O'Connell St. The Pallastrina Boys' Choir often perform at Mass, which is a good show.
For a flavour of the old established church and the past glories of former empire, check out Sunday service in St. Patrick's Cathedral on Patrick St. Decent choir, and a rather more Protestant ethic. The tattered banners hanging overhead (of the old Irish regiments sent to fight in British wars) and the tomb of Dean Jonathan Swift add a certain fatalism to the place.
For a hippy-dippy, wishy-washy, we-make-it-up-as-we-go-along experience, try the Unitarians on St. Stephen's Green. They are pretty much open to everyting.
My personal favourite is the College Chapel in Trinity, where the Chapel Choir sing Sunday service during term time.
