Causeway Coast Ireland

We will be visiting/driving the Causeway Coast between Portrush and Belfast for approximately 4 days and am looking for a base area to stay. Portrush is obviously one option but looks very touristy and busy during summertime. We enjoy more small, quaint villages then the bigger tourist areas so please make suggestions on alternative areas to stay between Port Rush and Belfast.

Thank you.

I liked Bushmills. We had a townhouse just outside the village, but I know there is a very nice hotel there. Since you will have a car, of course, you can stay anywhere, so search the usual apps and see what you can find that you like. Don't forget Google Maps, which allows you to really zoom in a town to see what is there.

I agree that the Bushmills Inn or the Bayview Hotel are your best options.

I just booked the Bushmills Inn for a second stay in September as I prefer
a somewhat smaller accommodation.

The Coastal Route on the North Antrim coast is beautiful. Enjoy!

The Ireland section of the website refers to the island, not the political divide, so tends to do double duty. Petition with Webmaster on here if you'd like a separate Northern Ireland section. As it stands, this one does both.

[edit: I see what you mean now. Ireland is in the title of the post. I thought you were looking at the section.

OP: Causeway Coast is in Northern Ireland, part of the UK as Paul points out]

btw, in answer to your question I loved staying in Cushendall for 10 days in December 2008. I bet you could get in to see the inside of The Curfew Tower if you were nice enough. You ask in the shop next door. [sorry edit again: The shop next door now looks very closed on Street View. Other folk around the village will know who looks after it.] They can maybe let you in, or ask the current residents. I stayed there as artist in residence with my mate. You have to find out how to do that yourself. When I stayed there it was run by Bill Drummond's organisation set up to run it, "In You We Trust". I knew friends of friends of Bill Drummond back then and I've met Susan Phillipsz, a director there, a few times. It's worth seeing inside, or chancing your arm with a bit of research if you want to stay there and make something to leave behind. Everyone who stays leaves artwork.

Just putting it out there, rather than in direct answer to the OP's question. Cushendall is great either way though. Lovely place if you can find somewhere to stay. I apologise for multiple edits.

Prior to driving the Antrim coast we stayed in Crawfordsburn at The Old Inn. After driving the coast we stayed in Portrush.

Ireland is the constitutional name of the Republic of Ireland, as per article 4 of Bunreacht NaEireann, that is the official name of the Irish state is Eire/ireland , just as the official name of this country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland , if referring to the Island i think its best to say Island of Ireland
