We ended up with a 2 day stopover in Dublin in September (on the way home from a trip to Italy). I know nothing about Dublin but am learning from this website! My 12 yr old daughter loves history and would really like to tour a castle. Is there someplace in or near Dublin that we can visit, without having to rent a car? Secondary request - any places for dinner in Dublin that is kid friendly and has great music? (ie not a bar) Thanks!
Dublin Castle is in the middle of central Dublin. Not sure when you will be in Dublin in September, but Riverdance is in Dublin (back where it all began) until September 8. The theatre is also city center.
Malahide Castle is reachable by DART and might interest your daughter. It’s in a lovely little town about a 25 minute ride from Dublin Center. Children in pubs isn’t an oddity in Ireland, I brought my oldest son to his first at about 4 months of age! I think the ultimate fun place for you might be something like Johnnie Fox’s. It’s gas!
