Carrick a rede rope bridge among other things

I can’t comment on whether it is worth it. However, we stopped here on my RS Ireland tour. Just as we arrived, they closed the bridge due to high winds. If you decide to go, I’d identify a backup plan just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate.

I was very hesitant to go across the bridge due to my fear of heights. However, I decided to challenge myself and was SO glad I did. The view was gorgeous, the bridge moved with people walking over it, my heart beat fast, but I DID IT. and I'm so glad I did. I also did Giant's Causeway and Duncluce that day.

That’s a good standard NI day tour itinerary and the stop at the bridge will not be too long. I don’t like heights so I just enjoyed the view from the mainland but my wife crossed it.

We did it on our RS tour. It was fun, yet not something that you would miss if you skipped it. If you have any fear of heights forget it. You can see between the slats straight down into the sea as you walk across it. My husband was so faraway from the rope bridge when I did it, he was ready to pass out at the thought of it.

I thought the bridge was a lot of fun. For me it would be a do not miss.

We did the bridge, Giant Causeway, Bushmills tour, and a stop to view the castle from afar traveling from Carnlough to Derry that day.

It has been a standing joke at home for many years that I don’t like ‘dodgy’ footbridges that move as you go across them and no-one thought I would ‘do’ the Carrick a Rede rope bridge... I watched the youngsters run across, the show offs standing in the middle and jumping up and down, and a lady going across in flip flops. I decided I would go for it. Husband blocked the bridge so no-one else could cross at the same time as me. The return was a lot easier than the outward trip.

Was it worth it - YES!

Would I do it again - amazingly YES!

There was a terrific sense of achievementt and the views from the island were great.

I have tremendous admiration for those early fishermen using the bridge.

If I was cutting anything out of the day it would be the Dark Hedges. No-one had heard or bothered about them before they were made famous by Game of Thrones.

You can do all those things easily in one day, assuming Bushmills in your destination. Like the previous commenter, I would skip the Dark Hedges. I was there two years ago on a bus tour, and I wasn't impressed. Also, some of the trees have sustained damage (or maybe died from disease, I don't know). If you're wanting to tour the distillery in Bushmills, be aware of the closing/last tour times. Don't drive after a tasting.

We are actually considering skipping Bushmills and looking to enjoy more local distilleries that will be walkable to where we are staying… and really out of the four of us only 2 like whiskey… We will be in Dublin, Antrim, Letterkenny, Kilronan Castle, Galway and Bunratty. So if you have suggestion for those town….

If you're not staying there and don't care to tour the distillery, I'm not sure why you would stop in Bushmills. There are some nice lunch places, I suppose.
