Car Seat questions and transportation with baby

Hi there,

We are going to be renting a car and we are going to bring our car seat from home with us. It is a Graco KeyFit 30. It has a base that latches to our latch system here in the US in newer cars. It can also be secured without the base (ideal since we don't want to bring the base with us to Ireland). Question is - will the car we will get have a seat belt system that is compatible with their cars? To be secure, the seat belt needs to come over the shoulder and have a locking feature (not sure the correct term for it).

Anyone use their car seat over there? I have tried to find the answers to my questions but not really having any luck.

Also, when we are in Dublin and want to get on hop on/off bus is there rules on having babies with you unsecured and without a car seat? Same for the tram ride to Howth. Also when we go to do some hikes, we will maybe need a taxi to take us back to our car. Taxis have rules about this since we won't be carrying her seat throughout the hike.

Thanks

No need for car seats on the hop on and off, trams or taxis. For ease of getting around, I would highly recommend using a baby carrier. So much easier than a stroller.

I am 99% sure that you will be fine using the set belt for the car seat but to be on the safe side, I would call the car rental agency in Ireland to double check.
