Car rental for month

Will be starting our from Dublin on May 5 and looking for a good priced yet sturdy car to rent for the month. Travelling to N Ireland the last week of the month. I have checked out a couple of places including Costco travel but the prices went up $200 since I first started looking. Any input would be awesome.

If you plan to use credit card insurance, check on the maximum length of covered rental. And, of course, whether your card covers rentals in Ireland.

We use Easirent. Good prices, great service and no hassles. Watch out though they all assume understanding of all the absurd insurance coverage permutations and it can lead to feeling like any rental company is ripping you off. I'd advise SUPER CDW and tire and windshield coverage. So worth it !

I would highly recommend contacting Laura at Dan Dooley's www.dandooley.com I did an on-line chat with Laura. She answered all my questions, regarding insurance, etc. and gave me the best rate of all the places I checked. She assured me that there would be no surprises when we go to pick up the car. I have emailed her with other questions since then and she has responded immediately. I wouldn't wait, as you will be going in a little over a month. We are going near the end of May and I rented our car about a month ago. There are horror stories on-line, as I'm sure you've seen, about using some of the other rental places.

You mentioned being in NI for the last week. If you rent in Dublin and drop off in NI, you incur a drop-off fee.

We are renting from Dan Dooley in April. We have used them in the past with no problems and their pricing for this trip was excellent.

Has anyone used Argus? Just looking at prices and they are more affordable but don't want to get caught in unknown fees.

Thanks to all of you for your help with car rentals. I ended up going with Dooley. Earlier this year they were bought out or conglomerated with Enterprise. They were a breeze to work with and please note there is rental office in both 1 and 2 buildings at the Dublin airport. My note to future renters, go with the smallest car you can as there are very narrow places and lots of tour buses on the popular wild atlantic way. Don't stress over the difference in driving on the other side, once you get out of the airport which was a challenge, it gets better. If possible, use the transit system while in Dublin and Belfast and leave your car. SO much easier and good locations to drop off. Towns and roads can be narrow but after a few goes, gets more comfortable.

Thanks for this info. I will be doing the same thing in May, 2019. Did you pickup and drop off at Dublin airport?
