Understanding the inability to be able to pick up a rental car in DUB and return to EDI....does anyone have experience with picking up a car in DUB - returning it to Belfast ( airport?) and then immediately picking up a new rental at Belfast airport, taking it to Scotland via ferry and returning it to EDI airport at the end of the trip?
Picking up in Dublin and dropping in Belfast is leaving a car from one country in another country which I can’t imagine will be cheap. Can you take hire cars on the ferry? And why would you when you could fly to Edinburgh and rent a car there?
So sorry but this makes no sense to me. What exactly are your travel plans?? Do you want to see just Dublin then Belfast and end in Edinburgh? More clarity would make it easier to give you advice.
I am just wondering if anyone has done car rental in this manner when attempting to visit Dublin, Glasgow, Belfast and then ending in Edinburgh.
It is permissible to pickup in Dublin and drop in Belfast. It is permissible to pickup in Belfast and drop in Edinburgh. It just isn't possible to go all the way from Dublin to Edinburgh.
Price aside for dropping off a one way rental, it really isn't that much. I am ok with that.
So I just wanted to know if anyone has experience with doing it this way.
I don’t think anyone would really do this because, unless you’re travelling with your own car, it will be cheaper and easier to just fly or travel as a foot passenger and rent a car on arrival in Edinburgh.
