Picking up a small car in Dublin town centre and dropping to Cork Airport in April 2016.
Can you recommend a reputable car hire company.
Payless looks cheap, is it ok??

Don't know about Payless.
Many of the people on this site have recommended Dan Dooley after doing their own research.
Be sure to compare the total cost, including insurance, which you usually have to accept from the rental agency in Ireland since your own CC coverage doesn't work there.

Jane, we rented from Budget, picking up on Drumcondra Rd and returning to Cork. It went just fine, even had damage on the car caused by another car, had their full insurance with zero deductible, and no problems. It was about $80 to buy the deductible down to zero on our six day rental, well worth it as Ireland is hard on cars. As Robert says, I too have heard good things about the-decidedly local-Dan Dooley.

Consider picking up a car at the airport. it will save you the headache of driving in Dublin. I typically have used Enterprise. Be sure to confirm on your reservation if you need an automatic, they can be in short supply.

We're traveling to Ireland in two weeks. We rented our car from Dan-Dooley. Great reservation experience and hoping the rental is the same. Add the Super insurance! A MUST!
