Car charger compatibility in Ireland

I have read several recommendations that I should have a car charger for my phone while driving in Ireland. Are North American Iphone car chargers compatible with Irish automatic cars? I am driving on my own so yes, I am going to be a wus and get an automatic vs a standard transmission :)

a car is a car is a car.

Yup.

Are you sure you will be able to get an automatic?

Test the cigarette lighter (fuse ... ) before you drive away from the rental location.

The bigger issue when driving by yourself is not having a co-pilot whose job is to yell "Left!" when making turns at intersections. It's interesting how often you think you have the driving thing all figured out and then your mind drifts at a crucial moment... :-)

The automatic is already booked - thanks. I'm considering it a public service.

Is the car lighter the usual connection for the charger - rather than a USB port?

That depends on the car. The ones I have had contained the standard "cigarette lighter" outlet. Newer cars (it's been a few years since my last Ireland trip) might have USB ports. Don't assume that because you booked an automatic you will get one. Depending on demand, they sometimes do not have one when you get there (speaking from experience).

Any suggestions to confirm that I still have an automatic when I arrive in Ireland? I'm actually picking the car up in Galway and have placed a deposit.
