Can we fit Dublin, Ring of Kerry and Causeway Coast in 7-8 days?

Hi everyone,

My daughter and I are flying into Dublin next month. I haven't visited in 40 years, and expect there are more crowds and more traffic these days, although hopefully the middle of April won't be too mobbed anywhere. She has never been, and unfortunately, the things she is interested in seeing span the island, given that the Ring of Kerry and the Causeway coast are at diagonally opposite ends. If we attempt all this, we haven't decided if we would head south first, toward Cashel then Cork, then King of Kerry to Dingle, up to Clare then up and over to Northern Ireland, or do the reverse.

We will have the car 7-8 days, and will either end or begin (probably end) with two nights in Dublin. We don't want to feel rushed, so is this doable or are we trying to put too many places that are too far apart in?

It does sound pretty rushed for 7-8 days. RS recommends the Dingle peninsula over the Ring of Kerry, among other reasons because the latter is a trap for tour buses.

I'd also try to have a conversation about why your daughter wants to visit the destinations she's mentioned. Is it because of personal interest, or just because she's heard of them and wants to be able to say she's been there? If the latter, I guess there is some value in it, but I often find travel motivated by what really interests me is more rewarding than checking off "must see" sights.

That would be very rushed. We just did the South last summer and took 14 days :)

I would have her pick either coasts and go from there.
