Has anyone done much camping in Ireland. My wife and I usually bring a tent and sleeping bags to Europe but camping seems a bit sketchier in Ireland. And then there's the weather....... I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I don't recall seeing any campgrounds, though there must be some. Just camping wherever is probably not possible, though you might see some of the Traveler people camped in places.

There will be plenty more besides the above.
Some farmers have casual camping, flat space and a tap if you ask.
A fair few of the hostels allow camping and use of the kitchen/common room at a reduced fee
