Our arrival time to Dublin's airport is at 10am, and we are planning to pick up our rental and drive to Galway. I am looking for a spot a short distance from the airport to stop for lunch (and a stroll), and Castletown House is a 30 minute drive and right off the N4 motorway. As I am finding with some sites, the house is not open until April (we will be there the last week of March), but the grounds will be. It also appears that the cafe on the grounds will also be open when the house is closed in the winter months, and I was curious if anyone by any chance has had experience and can confirm this. I did email the cafe with no reply. We would love to stop by and grab lunch and visit, and then continue our journey to Galway. Also, we are not committed to the cafe at this location (it looked pretty, is close to the airport, and convenient to the motorway), and other suggestions that meet the criteria would be most welcome.
