On upcoming heart of Ireland tour late May and have not booked air yet debating a round trip to Dublin as I can get a non stop outbound and return from west coast ( Los Angeles or Seattle ) . Shannon flights from LAX or SEA long layovers and concerned about connections/possible delays in LHR and have to book separate tickets to get return from Dublin non stop . Have you taken the big Green coach to Ennis to start tour or did you fly into Shannon? I am planning on arriving 2 days prior to tour and take tour of the Burren or just recover from jet lag :) .
We did the tour years ago and took the bus from Dublin to Galway, stayed a couple days, then the train Galway to Ennis. Both the train and bus worked well and we enjoyed the extra days in Galway and Ennis. Some people did fly into Shannon but agree on the risk of delays. It is nice to rest up in Ennis before the tour begins.
We are taking that tour in June and have booked flights round trip to/from Dublin. We plan to take the Bus Eireann from Dublin to Ennis the day before the tour starts. It is direct, reasonable and takes around 3.5 hours.
Having trouble with the BusEireann website loading . Which bus stations or route numbers ? Any details one can provide who has done Heart of Ireland and bussed to ENNIS same day as flight? My flight arrives int Dublin 3:15 Pm and I have hotel booked in Ennis that night before tour starts .
.
The direct bus from the airport to Ennis is not operated by Bus Eireann, but by
Big Green Bus.
It departs at 16.30 (arrive 2015) and 30 minutes past each hour, changing at Red Cow LUAS interchange and at 30 minutes past each hour until 2330, fare 25 Euro.
Bus Eireann no longer run from Dublin to Ennis.
The last train to Ennis leaves from Heuston station at 1800, arrive 2109, for much the same fare- that is a Cork train, change at Limerick junction
OR is train a more on time and comfortable option ? If you've taken the train please add your experience.
