bus from Dublin airport to Ennis

We need to make flight reservations for our RS Ireland trip, and I have a choice between a longer trip with a stop in New Jersey and a connecting flight into Shannon or a much quicker non-stop flight to Dublin that would then require the 2+ hour bus from the airport to Ennis. At least we would be in Ireland! Any recommendations?

We also plan to visit Ennis as first or last stop on a loop from Dublin. I'm eager to hear what folks say about transit.

From Dublin Airport you need to take the 2 hourly citylink bus #712X to Limerick (Arthurs Quay)- https://www.citylink.ie/timetables/limerick-dublin-airport

(journey time 2 1/2 hours)

then transfer to Colbert Bus and Rail Station (you have 55 minutes for this) for the #51 Bus Eireann hourly bus to Ennis via Shannon Airport- journey time 1 hour- https://www.buseireann.ie/timetables/51-1674571461.pdf

So the total journey time is at least 4 1/2 hours.

Or frequent bus to Dublin Heuston station then hourly train to Limerick Colbert (most trains you have to transfer at Limerick junction, and every two hours the train extends to Ennis) then bus #51- https://www.irishrail.ie/IrishRail/media/Timetable-PDF-s/Heuston-timetables/02_dublin-limk-ennis.pdf

Total journey time around 4 hours.

Thus you need to decide if that length of journey is OK (with the attendant switches), or if you would prefer to fly into Shannon.

Together with local bus #343 there is a half hourly bus from Shannon Airport to Ennis.

The Dublin Coach bus line runs a bus from Dublin center city to Ennis. I took it from Ennis to Dublin a few years ago. I think it is the M7 express line. It stops in Limerick but you stay on the same bus. I believe it has an airport stop at a stop called Red Cow. I don't know if that is actually at the airport or if you might have to take a shuttle.
