Bus Eireann Pre Purchase & Wifi Onboard Quality

I find the wifi on board very iffy…I wouldn’t rely on it.

I guess it depends on the route you take. I used the bus service from Cork to Kinsale and back and we didn’t need to book tickets ahead but the bus filled up fast. We got to the stop early enough that we were able to find a seat.
I booked tickets a day in advance for my other bus journeys as I like having a guaranteed seat.

I am impressed with the buses, they are comfortable enough.

I do recommend purchasing your bus tickets in advance. Not only are you guaranteed a seat but often times your ticket will be less expensive. I would especially encourage advance purchase for Bus Eireann's Expressway that you will take from Dublin to Ballina - it's a great ride! if you're flying into Dublin you can get on the bus at the airport.
As easy as it is to get the bus from Cork to Kinsale (it's a short ride) I did save over 2 euro having purchased my ticket in advance but if you run into difficulty you can always pay the driver. Have a great trip!

Thank you for your responses! I've been trying to pre purchase tickets but the Bus Éireann is not cooperating. Is there a third party site (similar to Trainline) that is recommended to purchase tickets?

Hi - when I went in July I tried to pre book most of my trips. I did have an issue with 1-2 of the trips and found out later from staff that those trips could not be pre booked, but that info was difficult to find out !

Tickets can be booked in advance (only at buseireann.ie) or buy at the bus station on the day. There's usually a small fare discount when booked online. I can see online fares available for up to late December already if you're booking that far ahead.
