We will be driving by. I would like to hear what people who have gone there think about the park. Is it worth a stop? We are on our way to Limerick.
Thanks, Jennie
We found it to be extremely touristy and crowded. If you are traveling with children, they might enjoy it. Wouldn't be where I would choose to spend my time.
We LOVED the Bunratty Folk Park, and we are two mature adults. Did not find it crowded at all, but we visited on September 2 two years ago.
As an Irish cousin told me, it is an excellent example of what Ireland would have been like when our grandmothers were young girls. Lots of thatched-roof cottages, a small little village of shops, church, blacksmith, farm animals, etc. Not quite like Williamsburg, but sort of an Irish version thereof. There is also the Bunratty Castle, which we visited, and it was interesting. We did not attend the buffet dinner show, which we understood is rather touristy.
One of the Park workers was walking two Irish Wolfhounds the day we visited, and it was great fun meeting them.
One could easily spend 2-3 hours there.
a few friends and I also enjoyed it. I would not say it was the highlight of the trip, but well worth the few hours we spent there. It was an enjoyable afternoon and not crowded when we were there (in Feb) I would stop if you have the time.
I had very low expectations – only went because my travel companion wanted to go. We both had a wonderful time. We went in late May, and it was not at all crowded. We spent 2 or 3 hours wandering around.
I have been there twice, with different people, and had a great time. We didn't do the dinner either time. It's also a great area to spend a last night in because it's so close to the airport
i also truly enjoyed it, and friends at home picked those photos as the best I look on the whole trip (some composed still life's with antiques in them)
we went there also, and the gardens and castle were great to see. We were also aware of the show as being for tourist, but went anyway, and had a great time. I would love to go back again for the show.
