Budget hotel chains in Ireland please.

In the UK we stayed in quite a few Holiday Inns and Premier Inns. What are the comparable hotel chains in Ireland? Hubby is mobility challenged so we are more comfortable in hotels that have handicap rooms rather than B&B’s

Where will you be visiting? There aren't many chain budget hotels here like in Britain and any we have would be concentrated around larger towns and cities. For chain hotels try Maldron, Clayton or Jury's Inn. If getting an accessible room is your main concern, don't limit yourself to big chains.

We are staying a month so lots of stops everywhere. We will be in Dublin, Waterford, Galway, and Derry & Belfast in NI for bigger towns. We do realize in smaller towns we need to look at smaller accommodations. I just needed a starting point.
thank you for the list

I feel like a horrible tourist but I am not a B&B person. I will look into those chain hotels and if none are available we will look into independent hotels in those areas. I know. I’m about to get crucified on here for saying that.

Nope, not at all. I've learned a lot from Rick Steves, but I'll never be a convert to B&Bs. I'm always polite to people in the morning, but I'm never in the mood for small talk or chit chat. Ibis, Premier Inn, and Jury Inn have been my friends in Europe along with a few other smaller European chains. Usually in the morning, I'm making sightseeing plans for the day, having my coffee, and uploading pictures or else catching up on news and social media. Forced interaction with strangers in the morning sounds worse than being in the office.

I generally also eschew the 'local charm' places unless I've done some extensive research.Hotels just aren't that important to me as long as the basic requirements are met. Obviously, a romantic vacation will have different needs than a busy sightseeing trip.

Honestly, Hotels.com and Booking.com are decent sites to find places to stay in. I guess it depends on what you want. Both of those sites show hostels, hotels, motels, etc. Booking.com also shows B&Bs, but based on your above comments, you can just ignore those. :)

photo, I don’t like B&Bs either so you’re not alone.

Thank goodness.....I thought I was going to get skinned alive.

I don't use Booking sites except to do research. They charge hotels 15-20% so that gets passed onto us the consumer.

Watch out for tripadvisor too. They sort now by best value but that is only on the hotels they make money on. Not the best places to go.
